Detroit firefighters are investigating a fire at a vacant commercial building on the city's southwest side for the second time in as many years.
Crews were called at about 11:53 p.m. Sunday to a vacant building in the 7100 block of Michigan Avenue near Central Street for a report of a blaze, officials said.
Firefighters arrived in minutes and extinguished it, according to the authorities. No injuries were reported.
Officials said crews were called to the same building, a former antique store, to put out a fire on Oct. 4, 2023. No injuries were reported in that fire, either, they said.
The fire department said it continues to investigate the cause of the 2023 blaze but found evidence of a person or people squatting on the building's second floor.
Last year, Detroit's fire department responded to 69,882 incidents, according to Michigan Bureau of Fire Services statistics.
That compares with 53,652 in 2023, according to the agency's data.
